Expansive and Comprehensive Sex Ed
Trailblaze Sex Education promises to bring expansive, sex positive, and comprehensive sexuality and sexual health knowledge to folks through their lifespan.
Education on sexuality and sexual health is the foundation for making embodied and informed sexual decisions. And, informed individuals can inspire and empower others, leading to more sexually healthy and inclusive communities.
Trailblaze has a simple wish for all people to understand that sexual health, sexual pleasure, and fundamental sexual knowledge are human rights. And sex ed can help folks work toward actualizing these rights. This opens the door to personal authenticity, genuine expression, and leaves little room for old beliefs regarding sexual shame or conditioning.

Big question! Sex, sexuality and sexual anatomy (in the west) tend to have a negative or shameful cloak over them. But, when we allow and encourage discussions and education on all things sex, it helps remove the shame and negativity surrounding it. When shame and mystery are removed, folks begin to feel more comfortable speaking about sex in general, making it simpler to navigate sex/sexual health in the real world. And sex ed is empowering! It gives us the info to make safer choices, provides resources, teaches us about consent, boundaries, sexual self awareness… and MANY other things. Sex Ed can literally save lives, broaden understandings and is the basis for a healthy sex life and a way forward to encouraging healthy communities!

She/her. Founder of Trailblaze Sex Education, Sex Educator, LPN, and 500 hour yoga teacher. Jessica lives on the stolen and breathtaking land of the Sinixt, the Ktunaxa, the Secwepemc, and the Sylix, also known by it's colonial name of Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada.
I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be a Sex Therapist. I even remember telling my friends and family. I am not sure where this desire came from, but it stuck with me through childhood and into my teenage years.
Instead, I found myself in a 20-year healthcare career and not in Sex Therapy. Nursing has taught me a great deal about life, and the beauty and depth that life offers (in all of it's highs and lows). It gave me perspective on ableism. It gave me a the capacity to connect deeply with others, supporting them in whatever emotion they found themselves in. Difficult subjects, situations, and conversations have become second nature to me.
In 2021, a nursing supervisor asked if I would like to take over her Sex Ed program in our city of "Revelstoke." It was the greatest gift to receive. Teaching that first class, I felt an immediate sense of ease and connection, and knew I was exactly where I needed to be. I know my students and clients feel it, too. Since that first class I have grown my own education, working towards gaining knowledge that I can now share with clients and students. I sincerely look forward to working with you, your family, your friends, or your students.

She/Her. Supporting Partner of Trailblaze Sex Education. I live within the Tkemlúps te Secw ̓ épemc territory, situated within the unceded ancestral lands of the Secwépemc Nation. Also known as Salmon Arm BC on the shores of the beautiful Shuswap Lake.
Education and Experiences:
Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management from Thompson Rivers University.
Ante Up Advanced SAR: Youth Sexuality course completion in April 2024.
After completion of University, I worked within the fast-paced Hospitality industry, managing a multi unit accommodation rental program. My priorities shifted with the arrival of my first-born
son. To maximize my time to stay at home and raise my children, I began operating a very busy and successful home-based childcare business for many years.
My gradual return to the work force has included social media marketing and management for hotels and resorts, running a small business consulting company with my husband, and working
as a mortgage funder for one of Canadas largest financial lenders.
In 2009 I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and shortly thereafter Rheumatoid Arthritis. Having these 2 invisible auto immune diseases has vastly changed my perspective on nearly every aspect of my everyday life including ableism within our society.
My passion for sex education is driven from the complete lack of proper learning available to my younger self. Also realizing that my own children haven’t received proper sexual education growing up has given me the drive to change this going forward for future generations. I strongly believe that every person should have access to learning sex education at any age, as I believe it keeps people of all ages safer and happier throughout their lives, regardless that all people face daily life differently, regardless or orientation, status or heritage.
